Video shows boy, 9, being arrested after bringing gun to school

The moment police arrested a “scared” nine-year-old boy who brought a gun to school has been captured on body-cam video.

The video starts with a police officer unzipping a backpack and pulling out a handgun the boy had allegedly shown another student.

According to ABC5, the boy took the .40-calibre semi-automatic Taurus to Cleveland’s St Francis School in the US state of Ohio last month, after sneaking it away from his mother’s cupboard.

The body cam shows the officer walking into a room where the boy is sitting before instructing him to turn around and put his hands behind his back.

“Hands together, palms together,” the officer says.

The boy then says he is scared and the officer says: “You should have been scared touching the gun. You can’t be scared of me, you bringing guns to school.”

“I didn’t know,” he responds.

“Baby, what didn’t you know about it?” the officer said.

“Baby, you know you can’t have that.”

The officer later tells the boy she is going to take him down to the station to teach him a lesson.

“Im sorry,” the boy said.

“Sorry doesn’t cut it,” the police officer responds.

“What would have happened if this gun would’ve went off? This gun was loaded. So, what happens if it would have went off?”

The nine-year-old told the police officer he didn’t know the gun was loaded and the officer raises her voice as she tells him that’s why he shouldn’t have touched it.

The boy’s mother then tells him: “I wish sorry could help you.”

ABC5 reports as part of the boy’s punishment, he would not be allowed to return to the school.

According to Fox8 Cleveland, the mother was charged for child endangering and allowing the child to access the gun. She is pleading not guilty.
