A Victorian sergeant has been charged with sexual assault following an internal investigation.
The 51-year-old man from the State Emergencies and Support Command allegedly committed the offence on March 26, 2021.
He was off-duty at the time.
The sergeant was charged on Friday and received a summons to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates Court in July.
Charges have been laid following the alleged 'torture' of a 13-year-old girl at what she thought was going to be a party on the Sunshine Coast.
The judge noted the level of community criticism had reached a 'fairly extreme level'.
