SNAPSHOT OF VICTORIA'S CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK:

NEW CASES

* 1838 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19, the highest daily tally of Victoria's current outbreak.

* Five deaths were reported on Friday.

- A man in his 80s from Brimbank

- A woman in her 80s from Whittlesea

- A woman in her 70s from Greater Shepparton

- A woman in her 70s from Knox

- A man in his 70s from Moreland

* Death toll from the current outbreak: 75

* Of the latest cases in metropolitan Melbourne:

- 631 in the city's northern suburbs

- 552 in western suburbs

- 424 in southeast suburbs

- 107 in eastern suburbs

* 113 cases in regional Victoria, including:

- 18 in Greater Geelong

- 13 in Greater Shepparton

- 11 in Baw Baw

- 10 in Ballarat

- seven in Mildura

- seven in Moorabool

* Total active cases: 16,823

* A record 77,554 test results were processed on Wednesday

VACCINATIONS

* 36,600 vaccine doses on Thursday at state-run hubs

* 85 per cent of eligible Victorians aged 16 and up have received their first jab, while 56 per cent are double-vaccinated

HOSPITALISATIONS

* 620 people in hospital, 114 of whom are in intensive care, including 76 on a ventilator

* Of those in hospital, 66 per cent are unvaccinated, 26 per cent are partially vaccinated and eight per cent are fully vaccinated

EXPOSURE SITES

* More than 470, including multiple early learning centres in Melbourne and an Australia Post office in Bundoora
