Victorian fires still burning after 26 homes and thousands of livestock lost
Twenty-six homes and thousands of head of livestock have been destroyed as bushfires continue to burn in Victoria's southwest.
Over 600 cattle and more than 3000 sheep, as well as more than 63 sheds have been lost since the blazes sparked on Saturday, a state control centre spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
However, the tally of livestock losses in the main farming communities of Terang, Cobden, Penshurst and Camperdown is expected to rise, as authorities continue assessing the damage.
While blazes across those areas have been contained, four advice messages remain in place, with residents urged to stay informed and monitor conditions.

Easterly winds peaking at up to 50km/h on Wednesday could threaten efforts to put out the fires, despite cooler conditions and no rain until Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
