Melbourne gunman denied appeal bid

A gunman, who shot dead a man from a moving vehicle in broad daylight in Melbourne, has been denied a bid to appeal his 12-year jail term.

Serdar Atesok was jailed in 2017 for at least nine years after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Nathan Knight, over a debt.

Atesok - who fired the bullet from a stolen car, hitting Mr Knight through the eye at Lalor on New Year's Eve in 2015 - was denied the right to challenge his sentence on Thursday, after the Court of Appeal ruled it was not manifestly excessive.
