Police investigating death of Melbourne artist found in bathtub
Police are investigating after a Melbourne artist was found dead in the bathtub of her home in the city's inner north on Thursday.
Antonia Tatchell, 43, was a renowned painter, photographer, academic, and mother, whose works were featured in a number of exhibitions.
Her son discovered the body in the bathtub of the Albert Street home in Brunswick about 6.30am and police were called to the scene.
Ms Tatchell's body was removed about 12.30pm and the cause of death is not yet known.
Homicide detectives would not reveal if the woman was injured when they found her, or how long she had been deceased.
"We are comfortable at this stage that whatever has happened doesn't pose any threat to the wider community," Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Colbert told reporters at the scene.
"We are speaking to neighbours, doorknocking the area, making a lot of inquiries to try to ascertain what in fact may have gone on if anything has gone on."
However her death is currently being treated as suspicious and police will await the results of a post mortem examination.
