Driver 'baffled' by mistake on licence - but can you spot what it is?

A man from Melbourne was left puzzled when he received a new licence in the post.

Not only had he not ordered one, but there was one unmissable error.

Earlier this week Anthony Kilsby opened the unexpected letter from VicRoads containing his licence - except it had an Asian woman's picture on it.

The builder from Geelong took to Twitter to express his confusion: "Can you explain this one to me @VicRoads ??? I'm a 36 y/o Caucasian male with dreadlocks.. and did not request a new licence.."

"It baffled me for a bit," Mr Kilsby told Yahoo7.

At first Mr Kilsby thought it "was a bit of a joke".

"My next reaction was 'am I being scammed somehow?'

"Then I showed my partner and thought something's gone wrong somewhere."

Mr Kilsby said his licence doesn't expire until 2019 and he still has his current one.

He initially shared the image with his friends on Facebook but claimed he later shared it on Twitter as he struggled to reach an appropriate person from VicRoads to tell them about the apparent mix-up.

A person responded promptly to his Tweet, saying: "Hi Anthony, thanks for getting in touch with us and letting us know. Looks like there's a case of mistaken identity! So our team can look into this further can you please DM us your licence number and contact details? -AA"

VicRoads said it apologises to both customers involved.

A response from David Shelton, Executive Director, Registration and Licensing, VicRoads said: "As a result of a processing error at one of our customer service centres, an incorrect photo was matched to the wrong customer's file.

"We've spoken to both customers to apologise and have reviewed their files to ensure they are matched with the correct photos and taken action to ensure this doesn't happen again."

Mr Kilsby said he will send the incorrect licence back, but he is still wondering who the woman in the picture is.

"She's the other part of the story and we have no idea who she is. It is interesting to wonder who she is and what she's thinking, " Mr Kilsby said.
