Vic man charged over theft of 2000 shoes

A man is accused of a six-year-crime spree involving the theft of more than 2000 pairs of shoes from outside the front of Melbourne houses.

Police discovered the haul of old sneakers and work boots during a raid on Monday and allege the man had taken them from the front doors of homes in the Doreen, Mernda, Watsonia North and Craigieburn areas since 2011.

The 43-year-old Falkirk Drive man was charged and bailed to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on April 13.
