Teen linked to fatal Vic crash faces court

A teenager charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run between a stolen car and a motorcyclist in Melbourne was allegedly in the middle of a crime spree when the crash happened.

Euan Delly, 18, from Seaford appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with multiple theft and aggravated burglary offences.

Delly is also charged with stealing the BMW that hit Scottish tradie Keith Stevens, 33, as he rode his motorbike through Mitcham on Wednesday.

The teen has not been charged over the crash that killed Mr Stevens, but it's alleged Delly was among four people in the stolen car that hit the 33-year-old.

Mr Stevens died in hospital on Thursday after suffering multiple fractures and burns to 50 per cent of his body.

Delly also allegedly stole another car on the same day of the fatal crash and attempted to commit a home invasion at Wantirna South, according to charge sheets.

The 18-year-old is also charged with breaking into homes in Armadale, Caulfield North, and Toorak, where he allegedly stole a purse, wallet, car keys and other items worth $3000.

On the day after the crash, Delly allegedly stole another car using keys taken from a Doncaster East home.

The 18-year-old is also accused of assaulting a police officer and damaging an interview room following his arrest on Friday.

Delly did not apply for bail on Saturday and has been remanded into custody at a youth justice centre.

Defence lawyer James Loftus said Delly required medication in custody for psychosis.

He will reappear in court on Tuesday via video link.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with culpable driving and numerous aggravated burglary offences.

He was remanded on Friday to appear at a children's court at a later date.

Police are still searching for two other people who were in the stolen car at the time of the crash.
