Woman in topless Richmond medal scandal makes surprise move

Surprise development in topless Richmond premiership medal scandal

A new development has emerged in the investigation into a leaked photo of a naked woman wearing a Richmond premiership medal.

At the request of the woman at the centre of the scandal, the investigation has been stopped.

Victoria Police confirmed the development late on Tuesday afternoon.

It had been alleged that a Tigers player sent the photograph to various people, including his team mates.

The woman said she had consented to the photograph being taken but had not given permission for it to be forwarded to others.

The Richmond Football Club and the AFL investigated the incident and worked with Victoria Police after the allegation came to light.

Under sexting law, a penalty for a conviction can lead to two years in jail.

Police said that while the investigation had ceased, they could still reopen the case at a later date.
