'I thought he was dead': Couple attacked by teen thugs
Teenage thugs on motorbikes in Melbourne’s west have attacked a couple in aged in their 60s.
Kevin, 68, and his wife Teresa, 65, were out with their dog Spud for their regular walk along Toolern Creek at Melton on Friday night when a gang of six youths riding three dirt bikes turned on them.
The six roared past the couple on their bikes before Teresa said they got off and approached them.
A teenage girl attacked Teresa after an angry exchange.
The 65-year-old ran for help, while another thug smashed Kevin in the face with a metal pop rivet tool knocking him unconscious.
“Kevin went backwards and I thought he was dead when I got there because his eyes were rolling (and) his mouth was full of blood,” Teresa said.
The vicious blow knocked Kevin’s front tooth out, damaged other teeth and lacerated his mouth.
The gang then took off on their bikes leaving him bleeding and out cold.
“I just wake up coughing blood, spitting blood everywhere,” Kevin said.
“I had blood all over me. Pretty savage to take a tool to a man’s face.”

Kevin was taken to hospital by ambulance and returned home yesterday.
The attack has left the couple badly shaken and now after 40 years living in Melton say it’s time to go.
The gang remains at large.
