WATCH: Angry confrontation between Yes and No same-sex marriage voters

An angry confrontation between a man who opposes same-sex marriage and a 'Yes' voter has been filmed outside a Melbourne shopping centre.

Bobby Lupo said he was "peacefully" holding up Coalition for Marriage posters outside Westfield Doncaster reading "it's OK to say no," when he was approached by a young woman on Thursday.

He filmed the altercation and tells the woman to "stay away" or they'll call the police.

"That's okay, I'm protesting you, so I can stand here," the woman responds. "Do you know gay people?"

Mr Lupo tells her he has gay friends who he "loves and respects," to which the woman fires back: "No you don't, you don't want them to have the same rights that you do."

The two parties then argue over the law and the "democratic right," before the woman asks for Mr Lupo's address.

"My address is where it is. Would you please stay away from us," he says.

Mr Lupo's friend then tells him they need to move on soon to protest elsewhere and the woman also pulls out her phone to start filming.

"To say No to someone else, do you eat animals? You probably think you're better than women too," the woman says.

She then tells them if she could "knock them out and get away with it" she would.

The men then decided to move to outside Officeworks and the woman starts to walk with them.
