WATCH: Melbourne families brawl over discount Aldi garden furniture

A shopper has captured the shocking moment two families brawled over an outdoor furniture sale at a Melbourne Aldi.

The shopper who filmed the incident arrived at the Plenty Valley store in South Morang just before 8.30am on Saturday to do her normal shopping and found a massive queue.

The moment the doors opened, people ran straight to the outdoor section for the $349 corner wicker lounge setting and a fight quickly escalated from yelling to "pushing and shoving."

"There was a lot of swearing and they were saying: 'I was here first, it's mine'," she told 7 News Online.

The footage shows the families trying to push each other away from the rack with the furniture and arguing over who arrived at the Aldi first.

Some can be heard saying they arrived at 7am, more than an hour before the doors opened.

"I was here at seven, on my own," one woman yells.

Some other shoppers appeared to try and break the two parties up by telling them to "calm down."

The shopper filming said the angry families did not realise there were extra sets of the furniture out the back and other shoppers wheeled their trolleys to claim those.

The brawl ended after the store's manager stepped in and told both parties they'd have to leave if they continued.
