Person in burqa 'robs fast food store in Melbourne’s east'

A person wearing a burqa has allegedly robbed a fast-food outlet in Melbourne's east, police say.

Officers were called to the store on Main Street in Croydon just after 5.30pm on Saturday and have since charged a 38-year-old man and are questioning a 21-year-old woman.

Police said the person who allegedly robbed the store was wearing a head covering similar to a niqab or burqa.

The pair have been charged with three other armed robberies.

They allegedly robbed a fast-food outlet and a service station in Morwell and a Traralgon business on Monday.

The Narre Warren woman is assisting police with enquiries.

The Frankston man was charged with armed robbery and other related offences over Saturday's incident and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
