It's believed the son's leg was driven over before the vehicle crossed back onto the other side of road, instigating the father’s fury.

The clash was triggered by a minor accident between a small car and the father and son in a ute, travelling along Toorak Road, in Camberwell, east of the CBD.

During his rage, the older man aged in his fifties, also had a confrontation with a passer-by who was brave enough to intervene.

“Crash.. you f***king moron! What do you think you're doing? What do you think you're doing?” he can be heard shouting.

This danger of this situation extended beyond the violence, as the driver of the hatch somehow managed to avoid moving vehicles during the attack as well as shoppers on the footpaths.

Witness Toby Chen told 7 News he saw one man bashing the other.

“I just saw him beating him like punching him repeatedly over and over and over again,” he said.

“And then someone else stopped their car, got out of their own car, and pulled the guy off him - and that's when he finally stopped beating this guy.”

Witness Hadley Isaacs said the man was livid.

“He was absolutely ropable. You know, he was screaming. He was threatening to kill the guy,” he said.
