Teen saves swan with mouth-to-mouth, AFL star pays vet bills
A Melbourne teenager has saved a dying swan by giving it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Video has emerged of Bayswater teenager Joshua Martin giving the swan the kiss of life after it got tangled in fishing wire.
“He looked dead when we first found him,” Joshua said.
“I thought he was gone.”
But under the guidance of his aunt, who runs Warriors 4 Wildlife, Josh performed mouth-to-mouth as they drove to the vet.
The video of Joshua saving the bird has received more than 20,000 views since it was posted with Western Bulldogs star Travis Cloke agreeing to pay the swan’s vet bills.
It also led to the swan gaining a new nickname.
Clokey is expected to be released back into the wild in the next week.
