Alleged killer admits bashing Melbourne man to death with gun in fight over car park

A Melbourne man has admitted to killing a father of two during a fight over a parking spot.

Christopher Orfanidis, 33, chased Phi Long Ung's car on the Western Ring Road at Ardeer, on July 5, 2015, the Victorian Supreme Court heard on Wednesday.

Police alleged he then drove Mr Ung off the road, and assaulted him.

Orfanidis allegedly struck Mr Ung in the head with a firearm and bashed him as he lay on the ground, furious he had parked near his home after being told not to, it was alleged.

Mr Ung never regained consciousness and died in hospital two weeks later.

Orfanidis pleaded guilty to killing Mr Ung and also to causing injury to the victim's friend.

Justice Lex Lasry on Wednesday remanded Orfanidis, of Sunshine West, in custody to face a plea hearing on June 26.

He will be sentenced for manslaughter.
