‘Ice zombie’ rapist claims $300-a-day habit wiped memory of attack
A predator who broke into a Melbourne schoolgirl's home and attacked her, claims to have no memory of the crime because he was in an "ice zombie" in a trance, his lawyer said.
Davut Bulduk, 31, pleaded guilty to the savage assault along with a second rape that occurred two months earlier.
Bulduk had stalked the girl's home for four hours before committing the terrifying assault in February 2016, a court heard.
The father-of-two was captured on CCTV jumping a fence and fleeing from the scene of the attack.
Items of clothing including a balaclava were found days later in a vacant lot near the sixteen-year-old victim's home.
Prosecutor Gavin Silbert, SC, said the crime was akin to every woman's worst nightmare.
The victim told the court through a victim impact statement: "I kept showering and washing my body with flashbacks in my head."
The court heard at the time of the attack Bulduk had a raging $300 a-day addiction to the drug ice, and to this day has no memory of what he did.
Two months before that attack, Bulduk committed his first rape in strikingly similar circumstances.
He broke into a 39-year-old woman's home and repeatedly raped her at knifepoint as she was leaving the shower.
Bulduk cried in the dock as his lawyer spoke of the impact the crimes had on his family.
Bulduk pleaded guilty to six counts of rape and two counts of aggravated burglary.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
