Knife-wielding man robs Melbourne gaming venue, terrifying staff

CCTV shows the moment a man wielding a large knife threatened staff at a gaming venue south-east of Melbourne before fleeing with cash.

The bandit, wearing gloves and a black scarf covering his face, robbed the venue at Sandham Street, Elsternwick, about 11.25pm on June 7.

The security footage shows the man approaching the poker machine cashier counter with a brown paper bag and demanding the staff member fill it with cash.

The employee appears frightened and panicked as he empties the till and fills up the bag with notes.

With his bag full of cash, the robber leaves the venue.

The robber remains at large and police are hoping someone recognises the man they wish to speak to in relation to the robbery.

Vision of a white sports car has also been released, which was seen in the area shortly before the robbery took place.
