'Stolen' BMW crashes into Melbourne bridge with nine people onboard, one critical

Six teenagers have been arrested with a woman in critical condition after an allegedly stolen BMW with nine people on board crashed in Melbourne.

Police allege a stolen black BMW station wagon was travelling outbound on the Westgate Freeway, near Todd Road, when it veered right and crashed into a pole on the centre median about 2am Friday.

A female passenger was taken to hospital with critical injuries and is believed to be in stable condition.

Five teenage boys and one teen girl were arrested at the scene and are currently assisting police with enquiries.

The BMW was reported stolen from a Truganina address between 12.30pm and 1.30pm Thursday.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
