Jealous husband jailed for at least 15 years for repeatedly running over wife's lover in 4WD

A jealous husband who ran over his wife's lover ten times with his car will serve at least 15 and a half years in jail.

Gavin Fogwell found his wife Pamela with her lover Adam Moody at a Deer Park service station last October, where an argument ensued over who was the father of an unborn baby.

In a fit of jealous rage, the father of four dangerously circled the pair with his four-wheel-drive.

Mr Moody got out of his car to confront Fogwell, but within minutes he was dead, run over ten times by the raging husband.

When officers arrived on the scene, Fogwell straight away admitted to the crime.

"What, have you run over him a couple of times have you?” a police officer can be heard asking him.

“About ten,” Fogwell replied. “I didn't stop.”

During his police interview, he still didn’t show remorse.

“There was people watching me, wasn't there? And the police got me at the scene too,” he said to the questioning detective.

"That is true, yes," the detective responded.

“Yeah. I know what I did,” Fogwell said.

The court heard, the 48-year-old believed Mr Moody was trying to kill him.

"You killed an unarmed, defenceless pedestrian,” Supreme Court Judge Bernard Bongiorno said.

"You made limited expressions of remorse for what you had done. Although, you also told him you didn't regret your actions in killing the deceased."

In sentencing Fogwell to a maximum of 19 years, the judge took into account his early guilty plea, depression and the violence he was exposed to as a child.

"This background may help to explain, if not excuse your resort to extreme violence in this case,” Judge Bongiorno said.

Mrs Fogwell, the woman at the centre of what the judge described as a “tragic saga”, did not appear in court but it was previously revealed she has since resumed her relationship with her husband while he has been behind bars.

Prison is now the only place they'll now be able to see each other, for at least 15 years.

After the death of Mr Moody, Mrs Fogwell gave birth to a baby boy, which she said was Mr Fogwell’s son

The child, however, died shortly after birth due to a congenital defect.
