Bikie war fears after three shootings in Melbourne

A bikie war could be behind two shootings that have left one man fighting for life and two others injured in Melbourne.

Two members of an outlaw motorcycle gang were gunned down outside their Yarraville clubhouse. Just hours later a third man was shot, possibly as payback.

Police investigations began just about 1.30 on Saturday morning.

Two members of the Bros gang had been gunned down in a Yarraville car park.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Finnerty said one man was shot in the leg and a second suffered a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Bother men are in their late 30s and were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The victim shot in the stomach is in a critical condition. His offsider suffered minor injuries.

“In relation to the motive that’s something we’re still canvassing,” Det Sgt Finnerty said.

“Obviously we’re seeking witnesses or any information in relation to the shooting of these two people.

More than 50 gang members were in the clubhouse when the shots were fired.

Some of the told police the gunman pulled the trigger from a slow moving car.

“It’s an incident that’s quite concerning and certainly something we’re trying to stamp out as an organisation,” Det Sgt Finnerty said.

A few hours later in Melbourne’s north a third man was shot in the leg while arriving to work at a café.

Police are investigating if the two shootings are linked.
