'It will happen': $150k goal reached to bring dying Aussie teen home

A dying Australian teenager stranded in the US has been granted her final wish to return home to her beloved homeland after a gofundme page raised almost $200,000 in just a few days.

NSW teen, Phelicity Sneesby, 13, desperately wanted to return home, but needed $150,000 for a medical flight - money the her family wasn't able to afford.

An elated message released onto the gofundme page today stated: "Phelicity and her family are so VERY grateful for everyone's amazing support".

"Mum met with her doctors today and they are working on coordinating the flight home and adjusting her medications to get her stable enough to tolerate the flight".

"Unfortunately since she is critically ill, this won't happen overnight. But IT WILL HAPPEN now and soon, all because of you. Every dollar raised will go towards any past or future expenses acquired for caring for Phelicity. We will never be able to say Thank You enough," a family friend wrote.

Phelicity and her family have been travelling back and forth between Ballina, NSW and the US for most of her life so she could have the best treatment for her congenital heart defect.

Born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Phelicity has now developed a condition that depletes protein from her intestines and affects her immune system - meaning she has little time left.

Her dad, Ben, has recently returned home to Australia in a bid to return to work and help the family pay its bills.

"Our little darling's journey is coming to an end," he wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.

"For years we have done everything possible to keep her alive, but there is nothing left to do."

Her mum, Veronica, has stayed by Phelicity's bedside in the cardiac intensive care unit in Ohio and says her daughter's final wish is to go home.
