Xavier College student slammed for rant about 'povo' public schools students

State school students, parents and even the federal opposition leader, have hit back at a Xavier college pupil who called public school students poor, low class and mentally inferior.

The Xavier senior got more than he bargained for after an ill-considered Facebook post.

In it, the final year student taunted his public school counterparts by saying he was ‘happy’ his parents bothered to send him to a private school.

“The amount of r******* people on this page make me so happy that my parents bothered to send me to a good, private school instead of a poverty-stricken ******** in pakenham."

"People often say that paying to send your kids to a private school is not worth it but when I read what you povo f***s post on this page I’m eternally grateful to my parents."

He notes that he will easily beat the public school students in the English exams, as well as all the other exams over the next two weeks.

"Remember to say hi to me when I’m your boss one day,” he concludes.

Today, the targets of his rant hit back.

"We prefer our education, than just some people smart talking us,” public school student Oscar Hill said.

Another student agreed and gave the Xavier student’s rant a D+ for his poor spelling and grammar.

Even opposition leader Bill Shorten said that the student was out of line.

"Well that's just stupid, that's just silly,” he said.

“The Jesuits who taught me taught us to be a man for others. They taught us about social justice."

In its time Xavier has produced a number of great leaders, including two deputy prime ministers, two state governors, Supreme Court justices and more than a handful of famous athletes. But it has also produced more than its share of bad headlines.

Xavier College principal Dr Chris Hayes said the student would be facing disciplinary action.

"The derogatory language and sentiments within the post are highly offensive,” he said in a statement.

“Xavier College is treating this matter very seriously and is taking disciplinary action against those concerned. This inexcusable behaviour deeply hurts our whole school community."
