The moment a woman became a millionaire
Cameras have captured a Melbourne woman's ecstatic reaction after she hit the jackpot while playing Keno.
Having recently lost her job, Debbie Bell spent her last few dollars on a ticket at the Baxter Hotel on Wednesday night.
Little did she know, it would change her life.
The 54-year-old won $1.17 million, in what was only the second time she’d played.
“Everyone’s in shock. I’m the first millionaire in the whole family,” she told 7 News.
Julie Wood was working at the tavern when Ms Bell realised she’d won.
“She just screamed and stripped off because it was a bit hot in here!” she said.
Ms Bell and her fiancé, who is also unemployed, said despite their newfound riches, the couple won’t be living a life of luxury.
“We live simply and just want to enjoy nature and life,” she said.
“We’re just old hippies man, we just chill.”
