Sean Sowerby

Sean Sowerby is an experienced media professional with an unbridled enthusiasm for talking about sport.

After graduating from Geelong College in 2001, Sean studied at Melbourne University while rowing for Victoria at national level.

He then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Sports Management at the Australian Catholic University.

Thereafter he began his journalistic career with a cadetship 3AW Radio as a producer and reporter.

He excelled during his four years there, establishing himself as a vital member of the team and winning an Australian Commercial Radio Award.

After four years at 3AW Sean sought a fresh challenge. He headed to regional Victoria and made the transition from radio to television, working for five years as a sports reporter, sports presenter and bureau chief at WIN TV.

Being an ambitious individual, Sean continued to go in search of greater opportunities. His chase led him back to Melbourne, where he became a senior news reporter at Channel TEN before joining Seven News as a sports reporter at the end of 2012.

He was again rewarded for his hard work a short time later, taking over from Tim Watson as the weekend sports presenter at the start of 2014. Sean also works as a sports reporter three days a week, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I get paid to watch sport,” he says. “My job is to meet the best athletes in the world and attend major sporting events.”

Aside from spending his free time with wife Bianca and son Jake, Sean can be found at the beach surfing or on the golf course when he's not at the office.
