Hundreds of sheep are dead after a multi-storey livestock truck rolled over on a road in regional Victoria.

The B-double truck was carrying about 600 sheep when it rolled on Horsham-Noradjuha Road at Lower Norton, southwest of Horsham, on Wednesday morning.

Some 200 sheep died in the single-vehicle crash or were later euthanised due to their injuries.

An Agriculture Victoria spokeswoman told AAP staff moved the remaining 400 to a nearby property for assessment.

Local police said the truck driver, a 31-year-old Echuca man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The road has now reopened after closing to traffic for several hours as the CFA, SES and Victoria Police attended the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and police are urging any witnesses or drivers with dash-cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
