Vic train firm in court for worker's burns

Metro Trains will face a four-day committal hearing in Melbourne in January after a worker was burnt while performing maintenance on high voltage powerlines.

The 22-year-old apprentice suffered flash burns to his face and hands when the elevated platform he was working on was prematurely energised, causing an explosion, between Box Hill and Blackburn stations in April 2016.

The matter was briefly raised for mention in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday, when a contested hearing was locked in for January 29, 2019.
