A stolen police ID, drugs and cash have been seized during a firearm prohibition order raid in Melbourne.

The Gang Crime Squad carried out the search on a Franklin Street property in the CBD on Monday, allegedly finding cocaine, methamphetamine, a significant amount of cash, false ID, and police ID that had been stolen during a theft from a vehicle about a year ago.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with trafficking and possessing drugs, impersonating police, handling stolen goods and possessing the proceeds of crime.

He was bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on April 20.

A firearm prohibition order bans an individual from acquiring, possessing, carrying or using any firearm or firearm-related item such as ammunition for 10 years.

They are also unable to enter a range of premises including firearms dealers, shooting ranges or firearms clubs.

Since they were introduced in May 2018, Victoria Police has issued more than 1200 of the orders across the state.
