A Melbourne man has again been banned from driving after he allegedly got behind the wheel of a ute while disqualified and caused the death of an elderly woman.

Bradley Shaun Adams, 43, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates' Court with his right arm in a sling on Friday, charged over a crash that killed an 87-year-old woman last week.

The woman was a passenger in a car that was struck by an unregistered ute allegedly driven by Adams at Reservoir on August 4.

It's understood Adams' son was in the vehicle with him at the time of the fatal crash on Plenty Road.

The 43-year-old faces charges of dangerous driving causing death, driving while disqualified, and using an unregistered motor vehicle.

He is prohibited from driving a motor vehicle as part of his bail conditions.

Adams is due back in court on December 15.
