A man has been charged after allegedly contaminating food with a syringe at a supermarket in Melbourne's north.
The 33-year-old Craigieburn man was seen behaving erratically at the Roxburgh Park supermarket on Tuesday afternoon.
It is alleged the man entered the store and contaminated a food product by poking it with a syringe before fleeing.
Detectives raided a Craigieburn address on Wednesday morning and arrested the suspect, police confirmed.
He has since been charged with contaminating goods with the intention to cause and being reckless as to whether it would cause public alarm or economic loss.
The man is due to face Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on Wednesday afternoon.
