Vic man accused of assaulting police

A 28-year-old man has briefly faced court after allegedly assaulting two police officers and endangering four others by driving a stolen 4.5 tonne truck towards them before ramming a police car.

Jason Borg of Hoppers Crossing faces 14 charges after he allegedly rammed the stolen truck into a police vehicle on Black Forest Road about 2.50am on Saturday.

He is charged with intentionally damaging an emergency services vehicle, assaulting police, intentionally damaging a police sedan valued at $70,000, dangerous driving and driving knowing he had been given a direction to stop.

Borg also faces two counts of recklessly engaging in conduct driving a 4.5 tonne flatbed truck towards police vehicles, placing its occupants in danger of serious injury.

He is also accused of dishonestly retaining stolen goods - two registration plates, stealing a Ford truck valued at $7000, possessing methamphetamine and damaging an emergency services vehicle while on bail.

Appearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon, Borg was remanded in custody to reappear on Wednesday for a filing hearing.
