Vic forensic police cars to be unveiled

Three new forensic vehicles will be unveiled in Victoria, capable of providing quick and accurate information to investigators during major crimes such as terrorist attacks.

The state-of-the-art vehicles, unveiled by police on Wednesday, can be deployed around the clock to test chemical and biological substances.

They will be deployed to major crime scenes of state significance or large-scale natural disasters with multiple fatalities.

"These vehicles will allow us to test potentially harmful substances at the scene of the crime rather than transporting samples to our forensic headquarters in Macleod, saving precious hours in a critical investigation," counter terrorism Assistant Commissioner Ross Guenther said.
