Vic fire crisis eases, but warnings remain

Conditions have eased in Victoria but 20 fires are still burning across the state

VICTORIA'S BUSHFIRES BY THE NUMBERS:

THE FIRES

* 20 fires across Victoria, with more than 1.3 million hectares burned out

* Conditions easing, with milder conditions expected for the next week to 10 days

* About 1000 firefighters have been fighting the East Gippsland blazes and 6-700 on duty at the northeast fires

* Some 2000 homes remain without power in fire areas. Mobile phone coverage also is an issue, with an Optus facility in Genoa affected

LOSSES

* Mick Roberts and Fred Becker, have died in the East Gippsland fires. Forest Fires Management worker Mat Kavanagh died in a vehicle collision on the Goulburn Valley Highway

* No people missing

* More than 3100 assessments done, with 286 properties damaged or destroyed and more than 400 other outbuildings also damaged or destroyed

WARNINGS

* Victoria's unprecedented state of disaster will end on Saturday at midnight

* But emergency warning remains for fire near Mt Hotham, plus 12 watch and acts in the northeast and East Gippsland
