A man is due to stand trial after pleading not guilty to murdering his seven-week-old baby in Melbourne.
Joseph McDonald, 23, is charged with murdering Lucas McDonald at Clayton, in southeast Melbourne, on October 29.
The father, from Benalla in Victoria's northeast, pleaded not guilty in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday to his son's murder.
McDonald remains in custody and is due to face the Supreme Court for a directions hearing on September 15.
His case is expected to be delayed because of COVID-19, which has forced Victoria's courts to temporarily suspend jury trials.
