A Victorian man has admitted to possessing more than 70,000 child porn files.

A convicted sex offender who admitted to possessing more than 70,000 child porn files is expected to be sentenced next week in Melbourne.

Andrew David Henderson, 45, pleaded guilty to possessing, accessing, making available and promoting his collection of child sex abuse images.

Henderson also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with his reporting conditions.

Authorities found 73,755 child sex abuse images and video files on devices seized from his home in late 2015, the court had previously heard.

In June 2016, while he was on bail for the child pornography charges, he had used a phone with access to the internet - in breach of his bail conditions.

He had also joined as a volunteer at the iHeart Church near Queen Victoria Market - another breach of his conditions and did not tell the church about his sex offender registration.

Henderson had been expected to be sentenced in the Victorian County Court on Thursday, but the matter has been put back to August 3.
