Vanna White helps ‘Price Is Right’ celebrate 50 years by reliving her time as a contestant

The classic game show The Price Is Right celebrated 50 years on Thursday, with a primetime special that was filled with vintage montages, classic prizes and celebrity pop-ins.

And one of those who stopped by was Vanna White, who was actually there to celebrate a previous appearance she made on the show. Because during one of the many video clip montages celebrating various highlights from the past five decades, the one showing memorable “come on down” moments ended with a young White making her way to Contestant's Row.

The appearance came in 1980, two years before she was hired on Wheel of Fortune, the job she currently has. And while she would go on to find her game show fortune eventually, her time on The Price Is Right was short lived.

“I didn't win a doggone thing,” White said of her time on the show, where she never even made it up onto the stage.

KYLIE MAR: "The Price is Right" celebrated its 50th anniversary Thursday. And it was filled with plenty of vintage montages, classic prizes, and some celebrity pop-ins, including one from Vanna White, who was actually there to celebrate a previous appearance she made on the show, like very previous appearance.

- Vanna White! Come on down! You are the first four contestants on "The Price is Right."

KYLIE MAR: The appearance came in 1980, a couple years before getting the job she currently has. And while she would go on to find her game show fortune eventually, her time on "Price is Right" was short lived.

DREW CAREY: Did you win anything?

VANNA WHITE: I didn't win a doggone thing. Did

DREW CAREY: You get even off the Contestants' Row?

VANNA WHITE: No.

DREW CAREY: No?

VANNA WHITE: No, I was just there. I mean, you know.

DREW CAREY: How many years after that did you get "Wheel of Fortune"?

VANNA WHITE: I got it in '82, so a little over two years.

KYLIE MAR: Viewers on Twitter loved seeing Vanna White as a past contestant and really loved the special overall, saying things like, "Price is Right, this is a great party. Congrats again on 50 seasons. Also, Vanna White hype." And while getting on to a game show can be nerve racking, Vanna had to experience it all over again when she was trying out to work alongside Pat Sajak.

VANNA WHITE: I remember Pat telling me after I got the job, he said, I didn't really think you would get the job because you were so nervous, but I did. I got it. And 39 years later, we're a great team. We work together. We've never had one argument.
