Ute bends in half in horror crash that killed two

Two people have been killed, and a third hospitalised, after a horror head-on crash west of Toowoomba in Queensland.

The high-speed crash happened on a remote road just outside the country town of Tara on Tuesday about 12pm.

The force of the crash caused the ute’s chassis to be bent in half on impact.

The ute’s driver died while the passenger of a campervan it collided with was killed instantly.

A middle-aged man behind the wheel of the campervan has suffered horrific trauma and was airlifted to hospital in Brisbane with serious ankle and pelvic issues.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
