Ute becomes airborne in Qld, lands on cars

A ute has landed on top of two sedans north of Brisbane after it became airborne while travelling down an off-ramp.

Police say it's a miracle no one was killed when the vehicle left the D'Aguilar Hwy exit at Pumicestone Rd at Caboolture, crushing the two roofs of the cars beneath it.

The bizarre crash happened about 8.30am Thursday and specialist police are trying to understand how the ute came to be airborne.

The ute also hit a third car on the ground but photos from the scene suggest that vehicle wasn't badly damaged.

Paramedics took two people to hospital after emergency crews carried out difficult operations to extract them from the wreckage.

One motorist was taken to hospital in a serious condition while the other has minor injuries.

The driver of the ute is understood to have suffered shock but little else.
