US star's epic celebration after 'biggest upset'

American youngster Frances Tiafoe has stunned the tennis world with a massive upset and a celebration to match on day three of the Australian Open.

The 20-year-old American has been touted as a future star of the sport but has yet to really covert his immense potential into big results.

However, Tiafoe’s breakthrough grand slam win may have come on Wednesday at Melbourne Park when he stunned Wimbledon finalist and fifth seed, Kevin Anderson.

The South African was a massive favourite to progress to the third round and looked well on his way when he took the first set.

However, a stirring fightback from the young American saw him spring arguably the biggest upset in the men’s draw as he triumphed 4-6 6-4 6-4 7-5.

The US star then erupted in wild celebration afterwards, flexing his muscles and screaming in delight at the huge Melbourne Park crowd gathered.

Tiafoe’s stunning win led to an outpouring of emotion from fans on social media.

Anderson was forced to take a medical time-out mid-way through the four-set match – an incident that could have contributed to his defeat.

However, nothing should be taken away from the performance of Tiafoe, who was happy to gain some revenge after a series of losses against the South African.

“It means the world to me, I lost to Kevin three times last year. I would love to get to the second week of a Slam and if you guys get behind me like you did again, then it’s going to be pretty easy for me,” Tiafoe said.

Tiafoe, ranked 39 in the world, will play Italy’s Andreas Seppi in the third round, which will at least equal his best performance at a Grand Slam, having made the third round of Wimbledon last year.
