Health authorities in South Eastern Sydney are on high alert after a number of Covid cases linked to a funeral were identified.

On Friday, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District confirmed there have been at least 14 new cases associated with a funeral at Wanda Surf Club, or a wake held at Highfields Caringbah on Thursday 18 November.

Anyone who was at the funeral or the wake are considered to be close contacts and are asked to get tested as soon as possible and isolate.

"Everyone who attended the funeral or the wake is asked to get tested, even if they are fully vaccinated or do not have any symptoms," South Eastern Sydney Local Health District said.

7News reported 600 people may have attended the service.

On Friday, NSW recorded 261 new Covid-19 infections, out of 73,027 tests and no new Covid-related deaths.

There are 185 people in hospital with Covid-19, of which, 27 are in intensive care and 10 are on ventilators.

The state is edging towards the goal of 95 per cent of people being fully vaccinated, with 92.2 per cent of people having both doses, 94.5 per cent with one.

If the 95 per cent double-dose milestone is reached before December 15, there will be an early easing of restrictions, according to the state's roadmap out of lockdown.
