Urban's myths could see him charged

Disgraced former WA MP Barry Urban says the situation 'will haunt me for the rest of my life'

Barry Urban's web of lies about his education and work history cost him his job as a West Australian MP and now he could also face criminal charges.

The Labor-turned-independent MP quit parliament moments after an inquiry recommended he should be expelled for committing a "gross and aggravated contempt of parliament" by repeatedly lying and even providing a forged university degree.

"We will examine what needs to be done next and there are a number of options - a police investigation, we could also explore taking criminal procedures against Mr Urban ... my view is more needs to be done," Opposition Leader Mike Nahan told reporters on Wednesday.
