Two construction union officials who allegedly blackmailed Boral executives are set to face a committal hearing in a Melbourne court after failing to have their charges dropped.
John Setka and Shaun Reardon are the state and assistant secretary respectively of the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union.
They allegedly blackmailed Boral executives Paul Dalton and Peter Head at a meeting in Melbourne in April 2013.
The union pair are due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday to begin a two-week hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to send the case to trial.
It comes after Setka and Reardon tried unsuccessfully for months to have their charges struck out.
They failed in the Court of Appeal in March to have the committal hearing stopped, and previously lost a Supreme Court bid to have the charges dropped.
