Uni student wins $1m in lotto first time he buys ticket

A Perth university student has won $1 million after buying his first lottery ticket.

The man, in his 30s, said he shirked his mate’s advice not to buy a ticket in Monday Lotto and purchased one anyway.

“My friend told me not to buy one as I never have any luck,” he said.

“I checked my ticket at home that night and when I realised I’d won, I literally slapped myself because I thought I was dreaming.”

He purchased his ticket at Media Lottery Centre & News in Cannington.

As for what he plans on doing with his winnings and newfound luck, the man said he plans to use some of it to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on March 17 with Guinness and lobster.
