Unexploded device in river causes road closures

Roads around a city riverside have been now re-opened after police were called to deal with an unexploded device in the water on Sunday.

The emergency services attended the scene in Norwich, with roads around Bishop's Bridge, Kett's Hill, Gas Hill and Riverside Road shut as a precaution.

The disruption came ahead of a Norwich City home game against Burnley at nearby Carrow Road.

Police confirmed that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and the incident had been safely resolved.

Traffic was diverted via Rosary Road while the incident was ongoing.

On the X platform, a town pub, Lollards Pit on Riverside Road warned customers of the police cordon while apologising for the inconvenience.
