Bizarre 'underboob' bikini taking over beaches

We’ve lived through the micro-bikini, seen the upside-down swimsuit trend rise and fall, even weathered the storm that was the yanked up your pants trend we didn’t know we didn’t need.

If you think the storm of impractical swimwear has passed however, you are sorely mistaken as the latest sneaky trend to rear its head may be the strangest we’ve seen yet.

World, meet the underboob bikini.

The latest trend is peppering Instagram courtesy of one main retailer known as Blai Swim is a scarf-like bikini that loops around the neck, and crosses over the chest tying at the back.

If it sounds fairly blasé it most certainly isn’t, the favoured way of styling the skimpy one-piece has the scarf cut so high on the breasts that the nipple is barely covered, and the tenuous relationship between the body and gravity threatens to break at any moment.

The cleavage is all under the swimsuit in this case, an anxiety-inducing look that to the average eyeball looks like impracticality in white and orange swimsuit form.

The revealing look has been modelled by prolific Pretty Little Thing Model Sofia Jamora, who can spot a trend before it even raises its head out of the factory.

Given her snap of the suit has already racked up almost 150k likes on her Instagram page, it’s a safe bet this baby is here to stay.

The swimsuit was designed by model and now business woman Liv Blaid who models the look herself.

The eye-popping look is riding on the coattails of a similar fashion statement made in streetwear this week by Aussie retailer Born To Be Wild early this week.

The normally inoffensive brand shocked shoppers with a similar shirt style, only this one is intended to be worn off the beach.

Fans of the brand have so far been positive, but we’ll have to wait for reactions on the sand to truly gauge how this numbers going to go down.
