Top Ukrainian government officials will meet with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó next week, head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak announced on March 14.

“We have arranged to hold a bilateral meeting between our government teams next week,” Yermak said in a Telegram post.

The discussions will build on a Jan. 29 meeting in Uzhhorod between Szijjártó and Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The meeting aims to improve Ukrainian-Hungarian relations, as they have deteriorated over Hungary’s PM Viktor Orban remaining politically aligned with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Yermak added that Kyiv anticipates progress "on the most complex issues on the agenda." He reiterated the commitment to regular communication between the two governments.
