Ukraine's Parliament removes several lawmakers from commission on fortifications and drones

The Ukrainian parliament has changed the composition of the newly created provisional commission on the arrangement of fortifications and the purchase of drones, Golos party MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on Telegram June 4.

Servant of the People representative Yelyzaveta Bohutska was replaced by Ihor Murdiy.

Also, MP Vitaliy Bort from the banned Opposition Platform was removed from the commission. Instead, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, MP Dmytro Razumkov (Smart Politics) was appointed.

Radio Liberty’s investigative journalism project Skhemy reported on May 22 that Vitaliy Bort had previously voted for "dictatorial laws" and supported a "referendum on the future of Donbas." Between 2014 and 2016, he traveled to the temporarily occupied Crimea several times. The legislator also called the events of the Revolution of Dignity "shambles".

The State Bureau of Investigation is probing a case of possible official forgery of documents for traveling abroad by a lawmaker from the banned Opposition Platform. According to NV sources, it is Vitaliy Bort.

Temporary investigative commission on fortifications and procurement of drones

The Verkhovna Rada created a temporary commission on the use of state budget funds for the construction of fortifications, as well as the manufacture and purchase of UAVs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces on May 22. MP Mykola Zadorozhnyi from the Servant of the People party was appointed chair of the commission.

The commission’s tasks were to study the need for UAVs and the formation of a state order for their production and purchase, as well as to analyze the supply of drones to the army.

The temporary investigative commission should also consider the arrangement of fortifications on the contact line and the targeted use of funds allocated for their construction.
