Residents shocked as mystery burning light shoots toward the ground

A strange fireball flashed across the sky, but it’s identity remains unknown, as people wonder if it is a meteor.

The bright light streaked across the sky at about 7.40pm on Monday.

Residents in Perth reported hearing a loud bang before the light streaked through the darkness. It happened over York, which is about 100 kilometres east of Perth.

Footage shows a bright light streaking downwards through the sky, casting a ghostly blue glow as it flashes.

“We’ve got reports of a large meteor flying over Perth. If you have any photos or videos please do send them to us,” Perth Observatory tweeted on Monday.

Social media users were ablaze on Monday night, reporting sightings of the meteor.

“Just saw a bloody huge meteor,” a Twitter user said.

“I thought I got flashed by a speed camera going the speed limit. Something flashed in the sky, and started to burn and fall,” another user said.

UFO sighting enthusiasts have been abuzz after the strange light.
