Aussie featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has hit back in the war-of-words with retired fighter Henry Cejudo after he was called an ‘overgrown midget’.

Cejduo retired after his victory against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 when he defended his bantamweight title.

But in the aftermath of the fight he reserved a callout to Aussie champ Volkanovski.

“I’m satisfied with my career. There would only be one fight that would really bring me back, that would really wake me up in the morning. That’s against other than Ryan Garcia, that would be Alexander Volkanovski, that overgrown midget,” he told TMZ after his retirement.

“I would love to make him bend the knee. He’s already halfway there.”

Cejudo continued the digs on Volkanovski on Twitter when he labelled him a ‘baboon’.

“I hope you’re thinking of me you over grown baboon @alexvolkanovski you will soon bend the knee to your rightful King! - Triple C,” he wrote on Twitter.

Volkanovski is the current champion after claiming the belt in 2019 against hitherto champion Max Holloway.

The Aussie recently successfully defended the belt against Holloway in a rematch on UFC Fight Island.

Following his defence of the featherweight title, he hit back at Cejudo on social media.

Volkanovski posted a photo on Twitter with Cejudo superimposed on his lap, while he was reading the ‘child’ a story about his rise in the UFC.

He accompanied the photo with: “Come on son, let me tell you a story!”

Cejudo is sure to hit back and continue the war-of-words with the Aussie champ.
